The People’s Canvas is a growing map of street murals located across New York’s five boroughs and throughout Long Island. Our work encourages a closer look at how each one of these walls spotlights a right at stake.
We didn't create these murals, and we don't claim to speak for the people who did. What we're doing is simpler. We are gathering their stories, their context, and the rights they represent into one place. We want young people scrolling on their phones to have a way in. Noticing is where engagement starts. Take a look for yourself!
Rooted in Real Work
These murals exist because of organizations who are doing important work in public housing, youth arts, criminal justice, and civic rights. The People's Canvas didn't create these partnerships, but we're documenting them, to help young people find and engage with this work directly.
